John Logan is a U.S. Navy veteran and internationally experienced security manager whose career spans two decades of military service and nearly twenty years with the United Nations. Fluent in French and a graduate of the U.S. Navy War College as well as the prestigious l’École Supérieure de Guerre Navale in Paris, he has spent his professional life operating at the intersection of crisis leadership, organizational resilience, and humanitarian operations.

During his Navy career, Logan served as Defense Attaché in Madagascar, managed multimillion‑dollar security assistance programs, and oversaw complex aviation training systems supporting fleet readiness. After retiring from the Navy, he joined the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, deploying to Goma, Zaire and Ngara, Tanzania, where he managed the safety of hundreds of humanitarian workers during one of the most volatile refugee emergencies of the post‑Cold War era. His field work included negotiating the release of ninety‑three hostages — eighty‑seven of them children — and leading large‑scale evacuations under active threat.

Logan later served with the UN Department of Safety and Security in New York, rising to senior leadership roles including Chief of Field Support Service and Chief of Compliance, Investigations, and Monitoring. He directed global training programs, strengthened aviation and staff‑tracking systems used across 187 countries, and oversaw investigations and security audits for UN operations worldwide. His work consistently focused on protecting people, strengthening institutions, and preparing organizations to operate under extreme conditions.

Since 2014, Logan has worked as an independent consultant supporting USAID, the World Meteorological Organization, the International Civil Aviation Organization, and municipal security initiatives. His projects have included emergency response training, business continuity planning, critical incident review, and comprehensive threat assessments.

Away from professional life, Logan and his wife share a long‑standing commitment to adopting the oldest and most medically fragile dogs from local shelters — giving a home to animals who are often overlooked and rarely chosen.

Logan is the author of The Edge of Chaos, a memoir exploring leadership, service, and the human cost of crisis. He holds an M.A. in International Relations from Salve Regina University and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute.
